Surgical Contracts

Overview

Acute Care Alberta (ACA) is a provincial health agency in Alberta focused on providing critical care to Albertans when and where they need it most. To meet this need, ACA can contract service providers who meet ACA requirements. The agreements listed on this page augment the staff and resources of health service delivery organization (HSDO) facilities through:

  • Assisting in cost avoidance through the procurement and maintenance of duplicate sets of equipment and facilities;
  • Reducing the internal workload of HSDO facilities by contracting select services to chartered surgical facilities (CSF); and
  • Capitalizing upon the efficiencies of the CSFs to achieve tangible net public benefit such as increased patient access to services, decreasing wait-times, and/or providing an overall cost savings.

All services contracted through the agreements presented are currently being provided by accredited CSFs. All clinics must meet standards for accreditation by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Clinics must meet the same standards as hospitals for quality assurance, patient satisfaction, reporting on services provided, reporting of incidents and patient concerns, physician qualifications and compliance with Alberta Health Services’ Medical Staff Bylaws. Furthermore, all CSFs must follow the rules set forth in Alberta’s Health Facilities Act (HFA) and HFA Regulation regarding the sale of enhanced medical goods and services.

  • All services contracted through the agreements presented are currently being provided by accredited Chartered Surgical Facilities.
  • All clinics must meet standards for accreditation by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
